From existing fuels like biodiesel and ethanol to next-generation fuels such as pure plant oil and cellulosic ethanol, the Biofuels Committee is PRCC’s strategic operating body for all things biofuels. We work hard to stay on top of the newest innovations and research, but aim to balance the theoretical with brick and motor projects and fuel deployment in regional fleets.
The Electric Vehicle Committee promotes the adoption of electric vehicle technology by consumers and by business. To accomplish this, the committee organizes workshops and events for the purpose of informing the public on the progress of electric vehicle technology and utilizes newsletters, PRCC’s website and other media to inform the public and promote the cause of electric vehicles. Its members work to stay abreast of the latest advances and news related to electric vehicle technology worldwide in order to act as a resource to the membership, other organizations and the public.
The Legislative Committee identifies and monitors legislative and program action relevant to the mission of PRCC. This committee also works with member companies to take actions on important legislative actions and rulemaking and takes steps to educate elected officials.
The Membership Committee focuses on the recruitment and retention of PRCC’s member organizations. It works to identify potential organizations and individuals for membership that would be important to PRCC fulfilling its mission. Additionally, the committee develops recruitment materials and holds or attends events to attract new members to PRCC and establishes the dues structure for PRCC.
The Communications Committee manages PRCC’s website, communications logistics and branding initiatives. The committee works on the back office needs of the organization to ensure PRCC presents a consistent and professional image across all of its projects. With a large and constantly growing member base, it’s important for PRCC to effectively communicate with members, stakeholders and project partners. The Gaseous Fuels Committee promotes the usage of vapor-type fuels by the understanding of the latest technologies, assistance in the construction of new fueling facilities and conversion of fleets. The primary fuel of this type is natural gas because of its broad availability, clean burning characteristics and relatively low cost. Propane is another such fuel promoted, as well as hydrogen-related technologies.
The Grants Committee works to identify public and private funding to help fill funding gaps for businesses and other organizations, organizes consortia to pursue grant opportunities, provides grant writing services (in some cases) and provides grant management support. It also works to maintain the funding necessary for PRCC to complete its mission for the region. The committee identifies funding needs within the organization and pursues funding opportunities from government, nonprofit and private sector organizations.
The Policy Committee is charged with the task of reviewing PRCC’s policies to make sure they reflect the group’s charter as well as the stated goals and objectives of the organization. If it is believed changes are needed (as may occur from time to time), this committee will bring them to the attention of the board of directors and suggest and draft appropriate changes.
The Training Committee works with stakeholders to help identify and make available more technical training for alternative fuel vehicles, as well as conducting outreach to the general public on options and advantages to using alternative fuels. The committee works in partnership with the National Alternative Fuels Training Center (NAFTC) to acquire the large amount of educational materials that the NAFTC has established.
