Organization Overview
Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities (PRCC) is a 501c3 nonprofit membership organization and a branch of the US Department of Energy’s Clean Cities Program.

Our mission: The mission of Clean Cities is to advance the energy, economic and environmental security of Western Pennsylvania.  By expanding and developing the markets for alternative fuels and energy in both the public and private transportation sectors, we will create jobs and a more vibrant economy for the region.

How we working to achieve our mission:
1. With public-private partnerships, build and support the infrastructure needed for a strong alternative fuel and alternative vehicle market in Western Pennsylvania.

2. Serve the needs of its member organizations through education, business consulting, development/grant writing, and management of Federal and State-funded projects.

3. Serve as the designated regional organization for all US Department of Energy Clean Cities Program initiatives, including coalition management and project funding.

Here’s what we do with your membership dollars:

1. Coalition Building – PRCC maintains a member network of business, nonprofit, and government stakeholders  in order to pool resources and achieve our strategic objectives. Our members need to be well connected our vast network of resources.  We provide members with guidance and support in performing market research, technical implementation of projects, advocacy to state and federal funding entities, as well as grant writing  and management of alternative fuel/vehicle projects.
2. Clean Pump Initiative — PRCC builds and maintains fueling stations that provide access to alternative fuels for its members. Three stations are currently under construction, and three more are planned in the next 18 months. Through the use of our stations, PRCC members often benefit from incentives provided by the State of PA for any incremental cost increase in fuel.

3. PA Green Fleets/Green Fleet Service — Our members must also have vehicles that can take advantage of infrastructure. PRCC will secure Federal and State funding as well as tax incentives to convert fleets and individual vehicles to use alternative fuel. As these vehicles are converted, we are committed to having a support network of trained mechanics and engineers to install and maintain alternative fuel systems.
