PITTSBURGH, PA (September 29, 2025)--Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities (PRCC), a U.S. Department of Energy-designated Clean Cities and Communities Coalition, is proud to mark its 30th anniversary this year, commemorated during its signature public event: Odyssey Day 2025, to be held at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC)-West Hills Center on October 3rd.
Odyssey Day is PRCC's annual celebration of alternative fuel technologies, clean energy vehicles, and workforce innovation in the transportation sector. This year's event showcases three decades of progress in reducing petroleum use, lowering emissions, and educating communities throughout Western Pennsylvania. It also marks National Drive Electric Month--a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcylces and more.
"Thirty years ago, PRCC began with a simple mission--to clean up Pittsburgh's transportation sector," said Rick Price, Executive Director of PRCC. "Today, we're working with fleets, technicians, students and policymakers to build a future powered by electric, propane, natural gas, and renewable fuels."
Odyssey Day Highlights:
Ride-and-Drive Demos: Hands-on test drives of electric vehicles and demos of CNG and propane vehicles.
Clean Fleet Exhibits: Featuring alternative fuel vehicles from local fleets including UPMC, Blue Bird of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
Educational Panels: Experts from Suburban Propane, Giant Eagle, CCAC, and others discussing alternative fuel infrastructure, workforce development, and clean fuel policies.
Tours: Learn more about CCAC's unique EV Apprenticeship Program and EV Training Lab.
Student Engagement: Open to local high school and college students exploring career paths in green tech and transportation innovation.
The event brings together regional leaders in sustainability, transportation, and education to explore new solutions and partnerships that support the ongoing energy transition in the Pittsburgh region.
"This isn't just an anniversary--it's a celebration of the partnerships, policies, and people that have moved us forward," said Bob Koch, Ford ASSET Program Coordinator and Professor at CCAC. "And Odyssey Day gives the next generation a chance to see what's possible."
